ASK SADIE:
The Column
Since 1994, when cyberhearts were first
introduced to “Cyber-Sadie” on
ABC Love Online, readers have been treated to Marnie Winston-Macauley’s
no-nonsense, witty, irreverent, frequently hysterical ... and
on-target approach to advice. Listen ..............
Advice. We all get it, we all give it. Some of us shouldn't.
Some of us should go into aluminum siding.
—
Bad advice people who think they're God. I don't do God. God
didn't make me a partner. This isn’t the garment center.
—
Bad gurus who think advice is cheap pantyhose, push a one size
fits all answer, then call you a “slut,” “bum,” or
biological error if you don't “do” life their
way.
Not my job. My job is to find a useful answer. If we laugh
a little, better. It's in the absurdity of human behavior
that we find perspective. And that’s very serious business.”
In 2002, Tribune Media Services embraced
Macauley’s
innovative approach to problem-solving. In her three times weekly
column, “Ask
Sadie,” she’s the only advice maven to turn a Q & A
into Life Strategies, with her “Getting It! Your Personal
Strategy” component. Drawing upon her diverse and extraordinary
experience, she uses bulleted steps to tell readers how and where
to go — with smarts, humor and attitude. Lots and lots
of attitude in papers from the Detroit Free Press to the Baltimore
Sun.
In 2004, "Sadie" dispensed
advice on FOX5 News this Morning in Las Vegas.
